Terms of Service

1. Who we are
HallPassGo ("we", "us", "the service") is a K–8 educational practice platform aligned to state-test standards (currently New York State; more states in development). The service delivers practice questions, an instructional tutor (Professor Hoot), voice read-aloud, parent and teacher tools, and progress reporting. The service is operated by TSYBORG. 2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to create your own account. Students under 13 may use the service only through a parent or legal guardian account that adds them as a managed profile (see our privacy policy for details on how this works under COPPA).
You're responsible for keeping your password confidential. Tell us immediately at hall-aides@hallpassgo.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Information you provide at sign-up must be accurate. Misrepresenting your age, your role (student, parent, teacher), or your eligibility for a tier is a violation of these terms.
3. Subscriptions & billing
We offer a Free tier and four paid tiers: Plus, Premium, Family, and Institution. Tier features and prices are described on our pricing page, which is the authoritative source.
Trial. New accounts receive 7 days of Premium-tier access at no cost. No card is required to start the trial. After 7 days, the account drops to Free unless you actively upgrade.
Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) until cancelled. You can cancel at any time in Account settings → Manage billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, after which the account drops to Free.
Payment. We use Stripe to process payments. We do not see or store your card details — only the customer and subscription identifiers Stripe returns to us. Payment terms (chargebacks, disputes, fraud detection) are governed by Stripe in addition to these terms.
Institution tier. Institution pricing is negotiated individually. Contact hall-aides@hallpassgo.com for a quote and contract terms.
Price changes. If we change a tier's price, existing subscribers keep their current price for the remainder of their current billing cycle. We notify you by email at least 7 days before a price change takes effect.
4. Refunds
See our separate refund policy. In short: 7-day money-back guarantee on first paid charge, cancel-anytime for end-of-period downgrade after that.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically copy practice questions, tutor responses, audio, or other content.
- Share your account credentials with anyone outside your household. The Family tier covers up to 4 student profiles in one household; if you need more seats, the Institution tier is the right fit.
- Attempt to bypass usage limits, tier gates, or daily caps through any automated or manual workaround.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source of the service.
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose, to harass other users, or to upload content that is illegal, infringing, threatening, or otherwise harmful.
- Use the service to train competing systems, or to evaluate the service for the purpose of building a competing product.
Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.
6. Content & intellectual property
Practice questions are aligned to publicly available state standards (currently the New York State Education Department's Next Generation Learning Standards). Questions sourced from publicly released NYSED test materials are credited as such. Original questions, the tutor's responses, the platform code, the visual design, audio, and the HallPassGo and Professor Hoot brands are the property of HallPassGo.
You may not redistribute, sell, or republish content from the service. Personal study use is fine; copying questions onto a worksheet to share with another student outside your household is not.
7. User-generated content
If you submit content to the service (a tutor question, a class name, a display name, an uploaded photo for the photo homework helper, etc.), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that content solely to deliver the service to you. We do not use student work to train models for any purpose other than delivering the service.
8. Disclaimers
HallPassGo is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The tutor's responses are computer-generated and may occasionally be incorrect, incomplete, or out of date; always verify with a teacher or trusted source. Practicing on HallPassGo does not guarantee any specific score on a state test or any other assessment.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of the service.
9. Privacy
See our privacy policy for details on what we collect, how we use it, and your rights, including how COPPA-protected student data is handled.
10. Termination
You may cancel your subscription at any time in account settings. You may delete your account by emailing hall-aides@hallpassgo.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or charge back paid subscriptions in bad faith.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material (it affects your rights, obligations, or how you can use the service), we'll email registered users at least 7 days before it takes effect. Your continued use of the service after a change becomes effective means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these terms or your use of the service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York. You and HallPassGo each waive any objection to that jurisdiction or venue.
